| Abstract: | The paper,by describing and comparing the grammatical significance of the modal auxiliary "gai" in different kinds of sentences and syntactical environments,distinguishes "gai" from "gan".Furthermore,it examines the source and grammaticization of "gai" with the reference of Jin dialect in Shaanxi Province and the inheriting relation of the ancient and modern meaning of "gai". |
