Abstract:Serious problems such as tilts and collapses are found in a large number of ancient buildings due to foundation deformation, which makes foundation detection and stability evaluation of ancient buildings become an important work for safety incident prevention. Due to its independence from artificial seismic sources, the ambient noise tomography method causes no damage to the detection area, so that foundation detection of cultural relics using the method has the advantage of not harmful to cultural relics. In this paper, the method was first applied in ultra-high density nondestructive detection of the foundation of Dengfeng Astronomical Observatory in Henan Province. Six measuring lines were set up around the Observatory to collect 24-hour data for correlation calculation to obtain the virtual seismic single-shot records with high signal-noise ratio. The S-wave velocity structure of the underground 0-10 m stratum was derived from a 10-meter 10-layer model by using the phase-shifting technique to extract the wave dispersion curves from the virtual seismic single-shot records, with the S-wave velocity of 170-340 m/s. The detection results show that the foundation of the observatory is well stratified, with no low-velocity anomalies, and the stratification is consistent with the trail trench, conjecturing that the foundation structure is solid and stable.
