Abstract:To elucidate the spatio-temporal distribution of AM fungi associated with the common desert plant Salix psammophila,we sampled,in May,August and October of 2009,at depth of 0~10,11~20,21~30,31~40 and 41~50 cm in the rhizosphere of S.psammophila from Inner Mongolia desert.The results showed that AM fungal average spore density and total colonization was 282 No/100g and 0.642,The experiment separated 20 AMF species of 3 genera : Glomus,Acaulospora and Scutellospora,15 species were Glomus,4 species were Acaulospora,1 specie was Scutellospora.respectivityly.Spore density,hyphal and arbuscular colonization increased initially and later decreased with sampling time,its highest value wasin August.Vesicular colonization decreased initially and later increased to its highest value was in October.The highest spore density and colonization of AM fungi were found at 0~10 cm soil layer in October and decreased while soil depth increasing.Spore density had a significant positive correlation with soil temperature and pH,and a significant negative correlation with available P.Vesicular colonization had a positive correlation with available N.Arbuscular colonization had a significant positive correlation with soil temperature,soil moisture and pH,and a significant negative correlation with soil available N.Hyphal colonization had a significant positive correlation with easily extractable glomalin(EEG).Total glomalin(TG) and EEG were remarkably correlated with soil organic C and available N.Further research should concentrate on investigating the diversity and function of AM associations in the plant community units and using TG and EEG as parameters to monitor the development of AM fungal community,organic carbon dynamic and nutrition cycle in desert ecosystems.
