| Abstract: | Following the definition of virtual NC machine tools, their key role in virtual manufacturing system is discussed. Some desirable characteristics and functions of virtual NC machine tools are identified. Architecture of virtual NC machine tools is proposed and analyzed in detail. The architecture of a prototype system is also presented. Although this prototype is currently developed, its initial success suggests technical feasibility of proposed virtual NC machine tool architecture. |
