Abstract:	This article discussed the algorithms of an automatic duplicate checking computer program used for acquisition duplicate checking and collection evaluation. The program, developed by the Hong Kong Baptist University Library in 2001, provides an automatic method to replace the tedious and traditional manual work in list checking.
