This paper strives to probe the basic content of credit in modern society.As a legal conception,credit takes on its own unique developing track.During the Roman law period,credit,to a large extent,was a legal obligation.It had little connection with the static relation between the credit body and the third person.Along with market-orienting economy's development,credit gains some new meanings.Under market-orienting economy condition,economic character becomes the most remarkable characteristic.The two main factors of credit are economic evaluation and common civil corpus's reliance.
