| 摘 要： | V.S.奈保尔是当今世界最负盛名的英语作家之一,象征手法的出色运用是其小说<河湾>的一大艺术特色.从河湾、水葫芦、蚂蚁、面具、大人物、黑暗等几个意象对小说中的象征手法作了探讨,指出象征手法的运用营造了作品的气氛,深化了作品的主题.

| Abstract: | V.S. Naipaul is one of the most prominent writers in English literature.One of the artistic features in A Bend in the River is his successful use of symbolism.This paper analyses the using of symbolism in this novel from the following images: a bend in the river,water hyacinths,ants,masks,big shot and darkness,and points out that the use of symbolism creates a proper atmosphere for the novel and meanwhile deepens its theme. |
