| 摘 要： | 通过对桑提亚哥形象的社会含义的分析,透视该形象下蕴涵着的作者的深厚感情.对海明威来说,死亡的意识和精神抑郁一直困扰着他.而那句著名的话或许是他自杀的理由(并非原因)——一个可以被毁灭,但不能给打败.海明威拒绝了失败,而选择了毁灭.这种态度和行为反应的是一种硬汉形象的感情:永不言败.同时,本文还探讨了桑提亚哥形象与人类自然关系的深刻意义,新颖、独到的观点,论据充分的论证,都令人耳目一新.
