A Lifetime Passion for Ethnic Minority Languages An Interview with Professor Dai Qingxia,a World Authority in Tibeto-Burman Languages and Culture

Investigating and describing ethnic minority languages not only facilitates commu- nication and enhance mutual understanding between different ethnic groups,but also helps to promote cultural and economic development of ethnic minority areas. Therefore,it plays an im- portant role in the construction of a harmonious society. With his deep passion for ethnic mi- nority languages,Prof. Dai Qingxia has been working tirelessly on more than 20 Tibeto-Burman languages in southwest China and the surrounding regions for several decades,making a huge contribution to the field. His rich firsthand research experience and his tremendous achieve- ments are a treasure.
