日本尺八与杭州护国仁王禅寺

尺八之名始于唐 ,奈良时代传入日本 ,平安时代绝迹。镰仓时代日僧心地觉心入宋参禅 ,在杭州护国仁王禅寺从无门慧开习禅期间 ,向同门居士张参学会吹奏尺八的技艺 ,归国后建兴国寺 ,立普化宗 ,传授尺八技艺 ,经过历代演变 ,一直延续至今。心地觉心是日本普化尺八的祖师 ,因此 ,杭州护国仁王禅寺是日本尺八的祖庭

Japanese CHI BA and Huguo Temple in Hangzhou

Chi Ba,a Chinese indigenous musical instrument,coming into existence in the Tang Dynasty,was introduced to Japan.But not long after,it failed to be handed down.Later on in the Southern Song Dynasty,Juexin,a Japanese monk came to Huguo Temple,Hangzhou,China to study Buddhism and learned the skill of blowing it from his Chinese classmate,Zhang Can.After returning home,he set up Xingguo Temple and began to impart the skill to others,and it thus survived and continues to the present time.So Juexin was considered the pioneer and Xingguo Temple the birthplace of Chi Ba in Japan.
