| Abstract: | In order to overcome the shortcoming of the distances between interval numbers and between fuzzy numbers introduced by Tran and Duckstein,new definitions of distances are given. Moreover,a function for ranking fuzzy numbers is proposed. Finally,several numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness and advantage of the method introduced. |
