Abstract:Due to the lack of attention to the ways of evaluating students learning,especially,through timely evaluation to adjust teaching strategies and bring students' initiative into full play.The evaluation of teaching is often simplified as a mechanical assessment method mainly to divide students into classes,so it is very hard to stimulate students' interest in learning and reflect teachers' teaching and the students' learning effectively.It is very significant to explore a complete,systematic and practical system of evaluation in teaching and learning.The paper,taking College English as an example,explores the theory,application and construction of formative evaluation in teaching and learning.
