Abstract:To improve the fuel economy and dynamic characteristics of the heavy duty commercial vehicle, the parameters of powertrain system were optimized. Based on the fuel consumption limits, the fuel economy and the dynamic characterictics were regarded as the objective function, and the powertrain system of the heavy duty commercial vehicle was optimized and designed. Based on the MATLAB platform,a optimization design software was developed, which was then used to optimize the transmission parameters of the powertrain system of the heavy duty commercial vehicle. A real heavy duty commercial vehicle was optimized and experimented on road. The conformity of the final simulation computation results with the road experimental datum indicates that the fuel consumption of a heavy duty commercial vehicle could meet the requirements of the standard limits in the second phase which was formulated by the Ministry of Transport, and the dynamic characteristies of the heavy duty commercial vehicle was also developed. The theoretical model and the developed software have a reference value to optimize the powertrain system of similar vehicles.
