Development and challenge of optical fiber communication technology in the era of big data internet

With the rapid development of information and communication technology and a great variety ofhigh-speed bandwidth services, higher requirements are put forward for the functions, network flexibility and scalability of the optical fiber transmission network carrying these services. It is necessary to realize the intelligent transformation of network while realizing the large capacity and ultra-high-speed transmission. The SDN technology is regarded as a subversive network revolution technology, which will certainly promote the development of network technology and the intelligent transformation of the network. This paper describes the basic concept and function of SDN, analyzes the current situation and development trend of optical fiber transmission network, and introduces the software defined optical network which applies SDN technology to optical fiber transmission network. This paper introduces the concept and characteristics of SDN, proposes a solution to the scalability, flexibility and smooth upgrade of optical fiber transmission network, that is, introducing SDN technology to evolve to SDON, and analyzes the development and challenges of optical fiber communication in the era of big data Internet.
