Abstract:The effect of electrodes with variation in their form, number, position, material and polarity on EHD enhancement of boiling heat transfer is analyzed on the basis of reviewing the up-to-date research results on the field over the world. The electrode geometry that can result in bigh electric field strength and asymmetry on the surfaces of heat transfer yields comparable enhancement factors. The effect of electrodes materials on EHD enhancement of boiling heat transfer depends on working medias. Experimental results cited in the paper demonstrated that the effect of electrode polarities on EHD enhancement of boiling heat transfer is not significant. The direction of further studies is suggested.
