| Abstract: | Smart and intelligent materials are one of the most important and attractive frontiers of material science and technology. The basic functions of smart and intelligent materials, sensing, actuating, feedback and control are discussed in this paper at first. Then several essential problems of smart and intelligent materials, such as material nonlinearity, communication inside a smart material system, composite and integration of materials, as well as the design and modeling of a smart material system are discussed in view of the author. |
