The furunculosis disease of the freshwater turtle Triongx sinensis is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Aeromonas sp.The histopathological deterioration which was characterized by the alternative inflammation was found in the intestine,liver,kidney,spleen,and skeletal muscles of the diseased turtle.The organs commonly swelled and congested,and erythrocytes degenerated.The epithelial cells of the intestine disintegrated and fell off.The granules in the hepatocytes degenerated and the glycogen in the liver decreased.Some hepatocytes dissolved and were necrotic with leukocytosis.The capillaries of the renal glomerulus dilated and congested.The epithelial cells of the renal tubule swelled,the grassy drops appeared in the cell sap,and the cell nucleus moved to the center of the tubule.The spleen cords swelled and the structures of the red and white pulp of the spleen were damaged.The number of the reticular cells,macrophages,and eosinophils increased in the spleen.The skeletal muscles fibers swelled and became cerosis.
