英语话语性别差异及成因分析

在英语交际中,男女两性在话语风格和话语语言方面存在着极大的差异:男性谈论社会,话语直接、坦白、果断甚至粗俗;女性谈论个人,话语间接、委婉、含蓄、客气,比男性更懂得维护交际双方的“面子”。造成这些差异的主要原因是生理特征差异、心理特征差异、角色关系差异、社会偏见和社会地位差异。

An Analysis on Gender Differences in English Speech and Its Causes

In English communication,speech differences exist between the two genders in speech style and the language they use: males intend to talk about the society,and their speech is direct,frank,decisive and vulgar;whereas females intend to talk about individuals,and their speech is indirect,mild,implicit and polite.Females have a better understanding of how to "keep face" for others in communication.The major causes lie in the differences of physiological factors,psychological factors,role relation,social prejudice and social status.
