| Abstract: | Hyperbole is a type of figure of speech often employed in both English and Chinese with its aesthetic values and rhetorical functions. In this paper, the author makes a new tentative approach to the figure of speech of hyperbole by presenting a comparative study of English and Chinese on three aspects: definition, classification and pragmatic function. |
