Maintenance risk management using probabilistic safety assessment in nuclear power plants

The probabilistic safety assessment(PSA) method has been used extensively for nuclear power plant risk management.This paper described a four-stage maintenance risk management process with an emphasis on the second stage of risk management in the making of short term maintenance plans,including implementation,threshold values,and adoptable measures.A maintenance risk monitor is developed.A practical example is provided to show how probabilistic safety assessment can be used to provide total quantitative risk profiles.Thus,the methodology is an effective risk management tool for plant maintenance activities to avoid high risk states.
