“紫石英”号事件与名城镇江

1949年4月英国军舰“紫石英”号（Amethyst）误闯我人民解放军渡江部队所属镇江江面引发激烈军事冲突。事后中英在镇江进行多次谈判，镇江军政领导人为我方的主要谈判代表。衰落的大英帝国与强劲崛起的人民武装力量的谈判一波三折。“紫石英”号事件对于中英两国、对于名城镇江都具有重要的影响。

The Amethyst Incident and the Famous City of Zhenjiang

It aroused drastic martial conflict that British frigate Amethyst intruded the position of the Chinese People＇s Liberation Army in April 1949. After the Amethyst Incident, talks were held many times between China and Great Britain. The army commander in Zhenjiang was the main principal of China. The parley was very difficult between them because of falling Great Britain and rising China. The Amethyst incident had important influence on both China and Britain, and it also had important influence on the Famous City of Zhenjiang.
