| Abstract: | Based on catastrophe theory, the paper establishes cusp catastrophe model of instability of simply supported beam column. With the help of mathematics, the author expounds the characteristics in the process of destabilization of beam columns, and presents conclusions and a formula of the relationship between lateral displacement of the member and applied load. |
