On the Aesthetic Image of Apricot Blossom in Classical Literature

As a commom memember of the flower family, though apricot blossom can not represent the riches and honours as peony does; can not represent the chastity as plum blossom does and can not represent the ethereality as chrysanthemum does, it has its own unique taste. It has charming color, refreshing faint scent and vivid and vigorous gesture. Meanwhile, with the development of times and the accumulation of history, apricot blossom has been endowed with many specifical meanings. This paper will concretely discourse on the aesthetic image of apricot blossom from four aspects: color, fragnance, gesture and lingering charm.
