| Abstract: | The concept of keystone species not only gave an impetus to the deep-going development of ecology,but is becoming a part of basic principles in conservation biology.However,some ecologists felt doubtful about it.In this paper, an introduction to the original meaning of keystone species,the connotation and extension of this concept,as well as the current situation of the research on keystone species were given.Also,the authors assessed preliminarily its significance and raised several urgent problems. |
