Cost-effectiveness Analysis of Infrastructure Expansion in Water Supply Systems

Water supply systems require large amounts of investment. Water companies often face a requirement of expanding infrastructure capacity to meet demands of new customers. This paper addresses a cost-effectiveness analysis technique. Based on demand-versus-capacity and cost-versus-capacity relationships,an optimal expansion model is developed so that a timetable for planning and optimal expansion period can be obtained for all system components.
