摘    要:云层的实时模拟是构造真实的虚拟自然环境的重要组成部分.然而,外观形状的不规则性和物理形成过程的复杂性增加了云层实时模拟的难度.在分析和研究现有云层建模和渲染方法的基础上,提出了一种基于元胞自动机的云层实时模拟方法,该方法的核心是采用元胞自动机理论对云层建模,使用风力函数对云进行控制;综合单散射和多重散射的方法构造云的光照模型;利用连续帧之间的相关性实现基于视点变换的云层实时渲染, 并利用Murakami的元球方法计算云的密度分布.实践证明该方法可以实时模拟具有较强真实感的云层.

Abstract:Real-time simulation of volumetric cloud is an important part for improving fidelity of virtual reality natural environment. However, its peculiar microstructures and intricate volume-filling formation makes cloud simulation more difficult. A novel algorithm for real-time cloud simulation was proposed based on previous work. The algorithm utilizes cellular automaton modeling method to create cloud formation; wind function to simulated cloud motion; single and multiple scattering methods to synthesize cloud illumination; consistency of continuous frame to implement cloud rendering and Murakami meatball to calculate the density distribution of cloud. The results show that this method is efficient and effective in cloud simulation.
