Comparison of research paradigms between complex network and social network

The paper compares the researches of complex network and social network from the angle of research paradigm. Our view is that genetics makes analysis from time dimension and the domain of knowledge model makes analysis from spatial dimension and their combination offers the possibility to cognize the object historically and comprehensively. Through comparative analyses of genetics and the domain of knowledge model, the paper first discovers the characteristics of research paradigms of the two kinds of network; and then further specifies the characteristics by an example on the CEO social network and competitive relationship complex network in Guangzhou software industry; finally, analyzes the connection between the social network formed by firm spin-off and the complex network of competitive relationship and concludes that the social network is the basis of competitive relationship complex network.
