Cultural Connotations and Aesthetics Characteristics of SU Shih's Personality

SU Shih (1037-1101)was culturally particular in Chinese history. His personality represents Chinese national spirit of large- mindedness and vigorous optimism of ever striving upward, imparting one an aesthetic sentiment of pleasure. The present article starts with the cultural connotations and aesthetic characteristics of his personality to assert that it is based on a solid foundation of cultural psychology, representative of a form of the mental hermitage of the Song Dynasty literati as a group in a realistic society,in point of aesthetics distinguished for its nobility of spirit, unpretentiousness and a jesting manner.
