The Analysis of English and Chinese Discourse Differences and Its Influences on English Chinese Translation

The key of translation rests with discourse, and its final effect must be reflected through the whole discourse of the translated version. Discourse means the real used language unit, is the language formed by a series of continuous language paragraphs or sentences in a communication process. English and Chinese have certain differences as well as similarities in discourse. This article discusses the differences of English and Chinese discourse in cohesion, coherence and discourse development mode, and its influences on English Chinese translation. The discussion aims at realizing the features and rules of English and Chinese better, so that effective adjustment to discourse can be made consciously in practice, to improve the translation quality and achieve the motivation of translation.
