由于自然地理环境的制约,生活在各个地区、各个时期的人皆具有不同的体貌特征和性格特点,进而发展出独特的语言、文化和思维方式.翻译既要处理表层的语言信息,其本质又是文化内涵的传达.由此,翻译又会同自然地理环境发生必然的间接联系.

A brief discussion on physiographical effects on translation

Human beings are created by the nature, which ultimately dominates and shapes their mind, languages and cultures. Thus, the cultures of human society earry the characteristics of natural environment and it leads to a new perspective on translation that com- bines geographical findings with translation studies. Due to effects of geographical environment, people have their unique features and characteristics at different times and in various regions. On such basis, people have already developed their own languages, cultures and ways of thinking. Translation has to deal with, on the one hand, language information itself, and, on the other hand, its cultural conno- tation as is the nature of translation. Thus, translation would inevitably be intertwined with physiographical environment.
