Mechanistic Study on Ascorbic Acid Oxidation at Activated Glassy Carbon Electrode

The experimental results obtained in this study indicate that the glassy carbon electrode,which has been activated in base solution,shows highly electrocatalytic activity toward ascorbic acid oxidation with an overpotential ca.370mV lower than that of the bare glassy carbon electrode.The mechanism of ascorbic acid oxidation at activated glassy carbon electrode is proposed and the rate-determining step is determined by evaluating the apparent transfer coefficient.
