Abstract:This thesis presents the process of the develoment of the Dineal body in the coturnix coturnix france with the methods of common histology and Biology statis- tics. The results are as follows: when anembryo of the quail has developed for about 72 hours, a protruding growth on the back of the prosencephlon-pineal prototype ap- peared. On the fifth day, it bacame a pineal body of a finger structrue which was inter- linked with the third ventricle. On the seventh day, many small gland vesicles differenri- ated from the finger structrue. The volume of the pineal bokdy bicame larger and larger. On the eleventh day, its pocket cavities were oeperated from the third ventricte, and the number of the small gland vesicles increased. On the thir-teenth day, the pineal body differentiated a head which was composed of the gland vesicles and a stalk which was composed of connective tissues. On lhe fifteenrth day, besides its volume increasing, its pocket cavities became winding, thin and short. The connective tissue networks were formed between the gland vesicles. Aftesr hatching. the dimensional change of the pineal body was not obvious. The pineal body in adulthood became something similar to its es- sential slruclure, ie.: there were a few gland vesicles. This thesis presenrs the first study of the development process of the pindy body of the quail, and defines the pineal body's place in the animal kingdom.
