文化研究语境下的中译英

西方对中国文化缺乏了解，说明中译英并不成功。中国译者的翻译与西方读者之间的矛盾，有语言层面的因素，但更重要的是由于社会意识形态、价值取向、审美标准等文化因素对译作的操控，主要体现在选材。只有强化文化意识，提倡不同学科和社会各界的共同努力，才能提高中译英的地位和效果。

Chinese-English Translation from the Perspective of Cultural Studies

Judging from the misunderstandings of the Western society towards China, the translations from Chinese into English have not been a successful story. This paper analyzes the reasons behind that failure through the theories of cultural studies. It argues that it is the cultural features such as the ideology, values and the aesthetic conception of a certain society that mainly dominate the translated text rather than the language differences between English and Chinese or the translating abilities of the translators. This is also reflected in the choice of translation materials. The solutions, according to the author, lie in the strengthened cultural awareness of the translators and the joint efforts among scholars of various fields.
