| Abstract: | This paper attempts to analyze the two courses of higher algebra and analytic geometry from three aspects: their historical development, the contents and interrelationships of the two courses as well as the demands of elementary education reforms and it draws the conclusion that it is feasible to integrate the two courses. Finally, the paper also provides some theoretical foundation for the reform of the mathematics major courses in higher normal colleges. |
