The Significance of Field Study in Language Research

Basing on his own experience of field study in the past decades, and integrating with the tasks of language practice and research, the author discusses about some issues of theories and methods in field study. The article contains three parts: field study is a main way to obtain language materials;what basic qualifications are required for field workers; field study is an everlasting task of language research.
