| Abstract: | A brief introduction to the design principle and practice is presented. The research status and development trend in these aspects are reviewed. Emphsis is placed upon the engineering structural composite materials, especially, for the advanced composites applied in the aeronautical and astronautical industries and for biomimetic materials and smart materials. The purpose for materials design is to optimize the materials properties, and to realize the optimum ratio of materials performance to their cost. |
