| Abstract: | The fundamental formulation of DDA is introduced first in this paper, and then a strip foundation discretized based on the Prandtl-Reissner's theory is taken as examples to com- pute its bearing capacity under different conditions . lt is shown that the simulated bearing ca- pacity using DDA is found to be in good agreement with that obtained from the general solu- tions presented by Coko The results have demonstrated that DDA is applicable to theanalysis of bearing capacity of shallow foundation. |
