高校思想政治工作者承担着对学生进行思想政治教育的重任，提高自身素质，是增强学生思想政治工作有效性的关键。为此，思想政治工作者提高自身素质，是一项十分紧迫的任务。要自觉加强学习，用各种新知识充实头脑，努力跟上时代的步伐；要适应新时代，更新观念，转换脑筋，进行创新的思维；要学习掌握马克思主义理论，坚定社会主义的理想信念，树立科学的世界观、人生观和价值观；要严格要求自己，自觉实践教师道德，以身作则，为人师表，以高尚的人格力量教育、影响、带动和感染学生，增强思想政治教育的效果。
