常勤毅的新著《中国新文学与中国共产党》是一本以文学的视角来解读中共党史中的一些重要人物、事件．或者说是站在文学史与党史的交叉点上来研究文学的学术专著。该书被认定为与中共党史“配套”且十分重要的“辅助教材”就是中国现当代文学，而该书的探索和尝试更表现在作者站在党旗背景前对中国现当代文学中一些作家比如蒋光慈等及其作品的理解和诠释上。
