| Abstract: | The earlier stage work in harbour construction projects mainly involves preliminary feasibility study, project proposal, engineering feasibility study, statement of design tasks and preliminary design. The economic evaluation is connected closely with every stage of design study. Based on the practical economic evaluation of ten small harbours along the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and other rivers, an economic evaluation method of water transportation is described briefly and a new basic return rate of harbour construction project is proposed in view of some existing shortcomings. The authors welcome any comment from colleagues who are engaged in economic evaluation of harbour construction projects. |
