New Consideration about the Development of the Western University Library in the New Century

The new century is a high sci-tech era with the sign of the information technology and the web technology.The university library,which wants to fit in with the requirements of the new development,must carry out the reform.This paper probes into the measures for the reform and development of the western university library in new century from four aspects of establishing the thought of "the readers first and the service first",making full excavation of the latent capacity of the library,cultivating the librarian ranks with the specialized knowledge,and building the modern library externalized with the digitalization,networking and automation.
