Abstract:The hydrology-physics property of the soils in the pure and mixed forest of Phyllostachys edulis was studied. The results showed that: ( 1 ) the soil bulk density of pure forest and mixed forest was increased with the increase of soil depth. The soil bulk density of three layers in pure forest was higher than mixed forest. In the layer of 0 - 20 cm the soil total, capillary and non-capillary porosity of pure forest were higher, that in the layer of 20 - 40 cm were lower, and approximately in the layer of 40 - 60 cm. (2)The soil saturated moisture capacity, capillary water-holding capacity and noncapillary water- holding capacity in pure forest were distinctly higher than mixed forest in the layer of 0 - 20 cm, and lower than mixed forest in both layers 0 - 20 cm and 40 - 60 cm. (3) The permeability of both layers 0 -20 cm and 40 - 60 cm in pure forest was better than those in mixed forest, but the initial and stable permeation speed of layer 20 - 40 cm in pure is lower than mixed one. (4)Human's activities of pure forest management have some influence on the hydrology-physics properties of the surface soil.
