Culture, Cultural Capital and Leisure--More Reflections on Leisure

"Culture" is the most popular topic in scholarly and non-scholarly discourse today.But what is culture? What makes it possible for culture to be passed on from generation to generation? What is cultural capital? How does culture become a kind of capital? What is leisure? How does leisure contribute to the continuation of culture? And how does leisure help to form cultural capital? This paper tries to address the interrelationships among culture,cultural capital,and leisure from the perspective of leisure studies in an attempt to take the discussion on leisure and culture beyond the play of concepts.The suggested approaches to that goal are 1) getting to the real meaning of culture,2) elevating our leisure life to a higher level,and 3) injecting cultural capital into our economy.
