| Abstract: | The paper, based on the analysis of English word-formation, Chinese usual way of borrowed words and their ideographic characters, tentatively puts forward a suggestion that Chinese translation for technical terms should be standardized in accordance with English word-formation. That is, semantic caique can be used for terms formed by conjoining, clipping and blending, letter borrowing for initialism, analogical translation for metaphorical transfer and transliteration for coinage and acronym. |
