On Material Flow, Trade Flow, Information Flow and Their Relations

The definition of material flow in both the narrow and broad sense and the distinction and relationships between material flow, trade flow and information flow are discussed. During the circulation of commodities, the material flow and trade flow, of which the former is the flow of physical body from supplier to consumer, and the latter is an exchange of equal value of the commodities and a transfer of ownership, perform the function of circulation together.The material flow, information flow and trade flow will respectively reflect, serve, guide and control material flow activities and trade flow activities. They can be merged as a unified circulating information flow.The transport, stocking, processing, inspection, packaging, loading and unloading, information, etc. are involved in material flow activities. With these activities, the Place utility, time utility, form and quality utility of physical bodies would be created.
