The Wellbore Azimuth of Horizontal Wells and the Determination of Natural Fractures' Azimuth

n the fractured reservoirs,the most economically beneficial horizontal wells are those whose wellbores are Vertical to the fracture plane,which can greatly reduce the resistance of oil and gas flow in the formation and bring oil venting of every fracture into full play.This article introduces two techniques of determining the-directions of natural fractures:One is micro-fracturing and oriented coring,the other is measuring the elliptic axis of the well bore by dipmeter logging.The paper points out how to carry out the technignes.The article has alro expounded the superiority of drilling a horizontal well from the flank by first measuring the overall data of the vertical well and then stuff that hole.
