《亚泉杂志》与西方化学元素名称在中国的传播

目的研究《亚泉杂志》通过期刊媒介传播西方化学元素名称的历史意义。方法基于期刊传播原理,对原始史料进行考证。结果《亚泉杂志》所涉76种化学元素,比此前江南制造局译本多13种,其中6种元素名称铍(Be)、氩(Ar)、镨(Pr)、钆(Gd)、铥(Tm)、镱(Yb)已被化学界接受,沿用至今,氩(Ar)的命名更是其之首创。结论《亚泉杂志》中的化学元素名称经由日本传入,对以往化学元素“名目参差百出”的现象所作的“划一”工作,具有重要的科学价值。其译介形式、传播机制和传播内容与以往西士口述、华士笔录以及主要通过图书媒介的机制大为不同,对化学元素译名的统一、期刊论文科学用语的规范化表达都具有首创性。

Journal of Ya-quan and communication of latter-day western chemical elements in China

Aim To study communication of the names of western chemical elements in China through Journal of Ya-quan.Methods Plentiful historical materials based on communication theory were researched.Results The names of western chemical element of Journal of Ya-quan were introduced by Japan,which made the unified name for chemical elements,and had bidirectional and multinamial characteristic among editors,authors and readers.Conclusion The form,the mechanism of communication and contents of Journal of Ya-quan were more professional and perfectable.It has most significance in the facet of unification of translated terms of chemical elements,standardization of lingual expression and communication of journals.
