英美文学教学的文化观照

摘    要:文学语言能比普通词语更生动、形象、曲折含蓄并变化多端地反映时代精神,它最富于表现力。因此,通过学习文学语言是了解不同时期的文化态势的一个重要途径。英美文学课作为英语专业高年级的一门主干课程,其教学目的在于促进学生语言基本功和人文素质的提高,同时增强学生对西方文学和文化的了解。文学现实层面与审美层面双层同构的特性和文化的两个层面,即公开文化和隐蔽文化,在某种程度上是契合的。文学课教师应利用这一特征在教学中于两个层面上观照文化。

Abstract:The literary language is more lively, vivid, connotative and dynamic than the ordinary language in reflecting the spirit of the times, and it is most expressive. Therefore, it is an important way to learn the cultural modes of different times by means of the literary language. As a major course of the English seniors, English and American Literature aims at improving the students' linguistic competence and humanistic spirit, as well as promoting students' understanding of the western literature and culture. This paper believes the isomorph of the realistic level and the aesthetic level in literary works is in agreement with that of culture which is composed of the open and the concealed levels. The literature teacher should take advantage of the characteristic to cultivate students' cultural consciousness on both levels.
