Summary The synthesis of 17 -hydroxy-17 -hydroxymethyl-4-androsten-3-one fromReichsteins compound S is described. Transformation of 3,3-ethylenedioxy-17-hydroxy-17-hydroxymethyl-5-androsten into 17-methyl-isotestosterone demonstrates the configuration of the substituents at C-17. |
