Cultivation and Development of Lexical Competence in the EFL Classroom Setting

In China the development of Chinese EFL learners' word knowledge and lexical competence in EFL classroom setting is unbalanced. In the first place, the further development of their word knowledge almost doesn't happen as a result of the improvement of their proficiency; in the second place, the development of their receptive skills always occurs prior to productive skills. However, a balanced development of the two lexical competences will be possibly achieved by great consciously setting out to establish semantic network and develop their comprehensive ability to use words.
